As the Principal Dr Nicole Archard championed a revitalisation of the school campus and sought to energise the school community, there have been some significant changes at Loreto College in Marryatville over the last 12 months.
Grieve Gillett Architects recently delivered two projects involving the relocation and consolidation of the administration staff, senior school teaching staff and student entry.
The administration staff have settled into the State Heritage listed ‘Acacias’ building. This iconic building, with special history for the School, is recognised as having outstanding built heritage significance. We were able to complement the highly detailed and rich interior spaces, with a bold contemporary refurbishment that represents the past and present narrative of the School.
Mary Ward Building Renovation
The second stage of the new staff facilities project at Loreto involved the co-location of senior school staff, along with consolidating the school reception and student entry, and renewing the School’s visual identity on Talbot Grove. This work was undertaken at the ground floor of the existing Mary Ward building renovation, named after the founder of Loreto schools, worldwide. The refurbished area runs through three discreet building sections of a load bearing 3-storey brick building.
The facilities include open plan workspaces, kitchen, breakout areas and meeting rooms. Our design maximises the visual transparency across the space and from the outside, fostering a collaborative approach to learning across the whole school community.
