LORETO COLLEGE UPGRADES MARY WARD BUILDING TO ACCOMMODATE NEW STAFF FACILITIES
The new staff facilities at Loreto College involved the co-location of senior school staff, along with consolidating the school reception and student entry, and renewing the School’s visual identity on Talbot Grove.
This work was undertaken at the ground floor of the existing Mary Ward building, named after the founder of Loreto schools worldwide. The refurbished area runs through three discreet building sections of a load bearing 3-storey brick building. The facilities include open plan workspaces, kitchen, breakout areas and meeting rooms.
With a considered architectural response, the revitalised staff facilities help to drive a new education and learning direction. Bringing staff to a new location and enabling them to connect in a more fluid space to nurture strong staff culture, beyond the staff room threshold. The design maximises transparency across the space and from the outside. With a new location and connection to the common space there is greater visibility and interaction with the student body. A high-quality facility with the latest in amenity provides the necessary support for staff as they strive for excellence.
Grieve Gillett Architects has delivered contemporary, flexible, functional and inspirational staffing facilities that reinforce and enhance the school’s reputation and pedagogy, which will improve educational outcomes for the school and the community.
