PARKS COMMUNITY CENTRE REDEVELOPMENT

Redevelopment of The Parks has adapted three existing facilities and created the base for a new urban precinct. In association with Renewal SA and DPTI, Grieve Gillett Architects undertook master planning and urban design as well as the detailed design of the renovated buildings.
The majority of the existing buildings were removed. A new road network and central plaza opens up lines of sight through the site, creating a safer environment allowing all new and existing buildings to share an address and create a sense of place.
The Sports Centre was provided with a new swimming pool complex and the building was remodelled and renovated to provide flexible, BCA compliant spaces including a new entry and cafe. The Theatres building was renovated and remodelled to provide disabled access throughout.
The Children’s Centre, containing a kindergarten and pediatric health services was extended and renovated to improve the functionality and amenity of the internal spaces.
Our development of the master plan for the Parks envisioned the library as a core function of a new town centre. The land allocated was located as a crucial node linking the rejuvenated Parks buildings with all the new developments and the surrounding existing community.
