AGSA RADICAL TEXTILES EXHIBITION

A CELEBRATION OF THE ROLE OF FABRIC ARTS IN SOCIAL CHANGE
A fascinating insight into the unexpected role that fabric arts play in our society, the Radical Textiles exhibition takes the viewer on a journey through over a century of political and social change.
Visitors are drawn into an immersive atmosphere of resistance, evolving into themes of rebellion and finally a celebration of self-expression. The eclectic and provocative exhibition spans an impressive array of scale, media and eras – showcasing pieces as varied as protest banners, mixed-media sculpture, embroidery, religious tapestries and fashion. Unifying the extreme diversity of the pieces into a cohesive exhibition was achieved in close collaboration with curators to balance the art themes with the spatial experience, enhanced by subtle design cues such as the backdrop palette.
Radical Textiles offers a rare chance to see such a diverse and thoughtfully curated collection demonstrating how the textile arts have reflected – and indeed shaped – our society.
