AGSA DANGEROUSLY MODERN EXHIBITION

DESIGNING SPACE FOR UNSEEN BRILLIANCE
Continuing our successful partnership with the Art Gallery of South Australia, GGA designed Dangerously Modern, an evocative exhibition showcasing 220 bold works by over 50 trailblazing Australian women artists. Showcasing the modernist period between 1890 and 1940, the show invites visitors on a powerful emotional journey—moving through solitude, loss, awakening, radiance, and resolve—mirroring the artists’ personal and artistic transformations.
Through carefully sequenced spaces, rich colour palettes, and symbolic thresholds, the exhibition unfolds like a diary. Intimate rooms suggest hidden inner lives; a jewel-like blue chamber encourages introspection, while an apartment window creates a backdrop for these independent women drawn to the European art scene. The sequence heightens emotional resonance and reflects the diversity of style, spirit, and influence in each work, some never before seen by the public.
Designed and delivered within a tight timeframe, the project positioned every borrowed artwork to meet complex loan approvals from private collections. Beyond the logistics, this was a celebration of overlooked brilliance—elevating courageous, modern voices long deserving recognition.
