Oskar Straatveit
Graduate of Architecture
Oskar is an emerging Graduate with experience at one of Sydney’s most respected design firms; Neeson Murcutt Neille. His dedication to design and attention to detail is evident through numerous awards. He has particular strength in early phase concept work across a variety of sectors including Education, Cultural + Civic and Residential projects across urban and rural NSW. He believes good design should always be responsive to its local setting whilst meeting client and societal needs.
Prescribing to place over a particular style, Oskar’s strength lies in uncovering the physical and cultural qualities exhibited on site. Producing a nuanced architecture attuned its local setting. He realised this through to project completion via a unique rest stop designed and built for Svalov Municipality during an exchange semester in Sweden.
Maintaining an eye for detail, Oskar brings a rigorous approach across all deliverables. Working collaboratively in Adelaide, Sydney and Sweden he is used to working in teams, adapting and relishing the opportunities this brings.
An avid surfer from a young age and having grown up on the coast he has been surrounded, fascinated and uplifted by the ocean. This ongoing fascination has made him acutely aware of the importance of natural environments to people’s largely urban lifestyle. He believes in the continued potential of architecture and its potential to do good.
