MAWSON LAKES INTERCHANGE

MAWSON LAKES INTERCHANGE
The Mawson Lakes Interchange forms the commuter gateway to Technology Park and the University of South Australia Mawson Campus, as part of a larger civil infrastructure project.
Conceived as a linear extrusion opposing the over-arching road bridge, the interchange is deliberate in its uncomplicated expression to promote user legibility and security. Simple and utilitarian in form and execution, the finesse of the architecture is delivered in careful consideration of the facilities functionality, accessibility, transparency, lighting
and general detailing.
Base material finishes provide a refined coordinated architectural expression while delivering cost effective construction. Longevity of performance, simplicity of maintenance, low embodied energy and improved capacity for material recycling are further benefits resulting from the selected finishes palette.
Translucent polycarbonate roofing provides shelter and shading while providing controlled natural light to the facility. Up lighting at night illuminates the roof providing a linear sculptural form opposing the over-arching road bridge, which is floodlit with blue feature lighting.
