ADELAIDE O-BAHN UNDERPASS

With a pending election, the State Government brought forward a series of transport infrastructure projects that were in various stages of planning and development. One of these projects - the O-Bahn Underpass - involved a tunnel underpass for O-Bahn busses under two major CBD arterial intersections that would shave 20% off passenger travel times.
The Department of Planning Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) required rapid delivery of graphic presentation and animations suitable for media release and public announcement for the project. Grieve Gillett Architects (GGA) was engaged to develop an animation explaining the proposed route and provide a street view fly though.
Following preliminary briefing, GGA prepared CBD building and street modelling concurrent with developing route mapping graphics and urban design treatments of the tunnel entry / exit points. Local production and development of the modelling and animation allowed the Department to monitor production, review draft animations, make minor amendments and alterations in house at GGA’s studio.
The final animation complete with route mapping, explanatory text and graphics was undertaken in five days, complete with departmental reviews and signoff.
