PORT LINCOLN STADIUM

PORT LINCOLN STADIUM IN ASSOCIATION WITH LOWE + REDDING DESIGN
During delivery of the Port Lincoln Aquatic Centre, Port Lincoln City Council approached Grieve Gillett Architects (GGA) to explore options for the expansion of the existing adjoining basketball stadium from two basketball courts to four basketball courts plus three competition grade squash courts. Council was making application for Federal Government regional sports funding and GGA provided supporting documentation including plans, elevations and perspectives enhancing the submission sufficient to ultimately make the submission successful.
Funding levels resulted in value management requirements which reduced scope and finish. GGA proactively worked through value management with the cost manager and Council representatives. GGA proposed walling systems using high performance composite wall and roofing systems providing Colorbond external cladding and internal lining with fire rated polystyrene cores for optimum thermal performance. Composite wall and roof systems reduced building loads and construction timeframes but also managed long term building maintenance improving OPEX expenditure and reducing required Council recurrent expenditure.
GGA sought to maximise provision of integrated envelope and architecture while deferring later ‘plug in fixtures’ taking a longer view of optimum initial development with progressive additional FFE easily fitted post construction completion.
