WARRADALE PRIMARY SCHOOL REDEVELOPMENT

SETTING A NEW STANDARD IN MODULAR SCHOOL BUILDINGS
Behind the seemingly modest school redevelopment lies innovation in design and construction. Testing the boundaries of the prescribed modular system, modules are stacked and arranged to create spaces of unexpected volume and beauty.
Responding to current modes of learning, the new Warradale Primary School buildings provide the school with a variety of colourful general and specialty learning areas, designed with flexibility in mind to achieve more freedom and space. The resource centre engages learners of all ages through digital learning, small group work and floor-based junior primary activities. Expansive decking and glazing extends the learning areas outdoors, while providing opportunities for seating, play and spectating over the resurfaced hard courts.
The two new buildings with their long, low roofline were sited close to the street, proudly announcing the civic presence of the school in its residential context. The non-compliant carpark and lack of safe pedestrian access has been addressed to improve safety and flow at peak periods. Through in-depth consultation with the school, DfE and DIT, we were able to resolve the challenging budget and aspirations to create a fun and exciting learning environment.
