A NEW CAMPUS HEART FOR STUDENT LIFE
A new Student Hub was identified in the Flinders University Strategic Plan 2012 - 2016 and became a priority project for the University and Vice Chancellor to create a centre point for student interaction and the provision of services.
Grieve Gillett Architects was engaged to undertake the concept development, in conjunction with the Flinders University Building & Property Division. GGA completed a feasibility study and subsequent concept design for the development of a Student Hub, Professional Office Building and associated facilities at Flinders University. We worked with various consultants and stakeholders to formulate a brief for the prospective project, and examined the existing risks and opportunities presented on the campus.
The design responded to a diverse range of student needs and to enhance the student experience by providing an interactive environment for learning, socialising and relaxation, as well as spaces for university clubs and associations, and student support services.
The project spanned 8 months and the final concept report included proposed designs, design guidelines, spatial planning, construction sequencing and animation fly-throughs that were used as part of the University’s approval and funding process.
