FLINDERS UNIVERSITY LEARNING SPACE PROGRAM

FLINDERS UNIVERSITY LEARNING SPACE PROGRAM
Flinders University ran an annual investment program in their teaching and learning spaces to improve the overall campus experience for their University community. In a hybrid teaching and learning environment, creating collaborative spaces attract
students back to campus to learn alongside their peers and colleagues.
This project saw the conversion of a large lecture theatre into two learning spaces for group teaching. Creating banquette seating over two large tiered floors, with substantially upgraded technology on screens to all walls, it allows for students to gather in clusters and learn through small group work. Acoustic wall treatments and upgraded lighting further enhance the environment within the Flinders Medical Centre teaching building. The commitment to full accessibility continues with ramps between tiers and adjustable height desks for sitting or standing at varying heights.
The design and fitout was on a fast-tracked program and tight budget so attention was given to locally sourced materials, furniture and fittings to ensure required lead times. The contemporary upgrades will reinvigorate the space for 21st century style learning.
