HALLETT COVE RAIL STATION UPGRADE

HALLETT COVE & HALLETT COVE BEACH RAIL STATION
The Department of Transport, Energy and Infrastructure engaged Grieve Gillett Architects and SKM to upgrade the existing stations at Hallett Cove and Hallett Cove Beach. The two stations were identified as sister stations that needed to be upgraded to an ‘Enhanced Station’ status, in-line with the recently developed Station Design Guidelines, produced by the Government to bring uniformity of materials and finishes across the Adelaide metropolitan & suburban network.
New overarching canopies were added and needed to be completely roofed in polycarbonate sheeting as part of the Government’s future railway electrification works. The materials and finishes were selected as part of the design guidelines to compliment transport interchanges already delivered by Grieve Gillett Architects at Mawson Lakes and Oaklands.
Robust base material finishes of unpainted galvanised steel and polycarbonate roofing are complimented by more refined elements of stainless steel platform furniture, and coloured alpolic signage. These types of finishes when coupled with modern design, reduce principle and life cycle costs, simplify maintenance and deliver a public realm asset which embodies equity of access, public safety, ease of use and functionality and longevity of visual appeal.
