We congratulate all the award winners of the National Association of Women in Construction SA Awards last night.

Associate Esther Chew was awarded the Starfish Developments Project Innovation and Development Award, which recognises women who play a significant role in achieving major milestones for the development of projects whilst also applying innovation.

~~Drink Dine Design Finalists' Exhibition now showing~~

The 2018 Drink Dine Design Finalists’ exhibition and installation, designed by Grieve Gillett Andersen Architects is now showing at the Adelaide Airport, main concourse until 7 November.

Made up of 1,500 KINK Oil Bottle packaging tubes, careful consideration of its environmental impact has been at the forefront of the design process.

~~Pembroke’s Middle School rising fast from the Ground~~

~~2 August 2018~~

135 days in and the Pembroke Middle School Redevelopment is rising fast from the ground with key design elements starting to take shape.

The triangular footprint of the building is now visible with first level floorplate currently being tensioned and poured, whilst the three level in-situ off form concrete heart of the building, affectionately known as ‘the shard’, continues to set the pace for the program.

~~Torrens Road to Torrens River South Rd Upgrade~~

The completion of the Torrens Road to Torrens River South Road upgrade is nearing an early completion with Grieve Gillett Andersen providing the Urban Design services, as part of the T2T Alliance.

As the project nears completion, the urban design elements in the development are taking shape. The project has duplicated South Rd, pushing a non-stop section below Torrens Road, Hawker Street, The Outer Harbour Rail Line, Port Road and Grange Road.

~~Copper Coast’s Redeveloped Leisure Centre Now Open~~

On Thursday 26 July, the redeveloped Copper Coast Sport and Leisure Centre in Kadina was officially opened by The Honourable Michael McCormack, Deputy Prime Minister of Australia.

It was a grand occasion organised by the Copper Coast Council and the celebrations also continued on Sunday at the community open day. The upgraded facility built by Unique Urban Built and designed by Grieve Gillett Andersen, was hailed as a benchmark for country area sports facilities.

~~Loreto College moves into their new staff facilities~~

There have been some changes at Loreto College at Marryatville over the last 12 months. Their new Principal Dr Nicole Archard has championed a revitalisation of the school campus and energised the school community.

Grieve Gillett Andersen recently delivered two projects involving the relocation and consolidation of the administration staff, senior school teaching staff and student entry.

The top entries in the 2018 South Australian Architecture Awards have set a new benchmark for contemporary housing design in this state, writes Ben Kelly in the July edition of SALIFE Magazine.

Planning a dwelling on a 118m2 landlocked allotment in Adelaide's south-western corner required clever design. Grieve Gillett Andersen director Dimitty Andersen says the project overcame a number of constraints.

When an art collector commissions a private garden from one of the best landscape architecture firms in the country, the result will be special. Dimitty Andersen and Dino Vrynios sat down recently with CityMag to talk about the story of the floating house on Castle Street in Adelaide's south-west.

In a tiny space between Castle and Halifax Streets exists a home of unassumingly large proportions. On a pocket of land just 9.7m x 12.2m, the newly built home, which was designed and built by Grieve Gillett Andersen, fits a surprisingly large floorspace of 120sqm.

A shared passion for the food and wine experience in South Australia is central to a continuing collaboration between Grieve Gillett Andersen and the JamFactory for this year's Drink Dine Design awards installation, writes Nathan James Crane in the June edition of The Adelaide Review.

"When we came to this project with JamFactory it was exciting because it was comprehensive. It's architecture, food, wine and design, which are all important to us. They are fundamental to what we address as a firm," says Paul Gillett, co-director of GGA.

We’re excited to welcome Senior Architects Allan Yeo and Nicole Dent to Grieve Gillett Andersen, and welcome back Senior Interior Designer Danielle Jacobs who returned this year from maternity leave.

Allan brings his extensive experience in the education, commercial, civic and correctional facilities sectors to the practice after working in London and Adelaide since graduating from University of SA in 2008. Nicole Dent joined us in December with over 16 years’ experience in architecture, including education, heritage, commercial, civic, sports & leisure and residential projects working at practices in London and Adelaide.

~~Pembroke's New Science, Technology and Art Centre~~

We are excited to commence construction of the new Pembroke Middle School facility with Sarah Construction at Kensington. This ambitious building will become the focus for middle school science, art, technology and cross disciplinary learning, while demonstrating innovation through design.

~~Mimili Anangu School Preschool in the APY Lands~~

~~23 February 2018~~

Construction of the Mimili Anangu School Preschool building is nearing completion, before it will be transported 500km from Alice Springs to its site at Mimili in the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Lands (APY Lands).

Due to the remote location, difficulty of access and extremely limited site accommodation and facilities at the School, transportable construction was chosen for the new facility as the most efficient solution for project budget and delivery.

Three new projects are nominated for this year’s South Australian Architecture Awards, including Pembroke’s new environmental learning centre on the Finnis River, the Drink Dine Design bar for Hot 100 Wines 2017/18 and a new 2-storey 3 bedroom home situated on a 118m2 lot in Adelaide’s south west.

The new facility at Pembroke School’s Old Watulunga campus provides students with an opportunity to immerse themselves in outdoor education and recreation experiences.

~~St Mary's College West Terrace Development~~

~~23 January 2018~~

Foundations for the new Year 12 Centre, Arts Facilities and Gymasium development at St Mary’s College are taking shape on West Terrace. A collaborative stakeholder engagement process centred on the school’s identity and philosophies facilitated concept development for the building’s façade.

The design explored key narratives of Voice and Faith. The façade responds to the handcrafted nature of contextual materials and takes cues from strong site precedents.
