The Noarlunga TAFE SA campus is situated in the southern suburbs of the Adelaide metropolitan area.
The 30 year old design was unsuited to current teaching and learning methods which have changed over time and the space was not well utilised. The project reconfigured and refurbished a space of approximately 6700 square metres to:
-
establish specialist skills laboratories in the areas of aged care, child care, and hair and beauty programs,
-
transform open space into learning commons that accommodate large numbers of students across the full range of program areas for individual e-learning based activities;
-
allow for the expansion of the cosmetology program;
-
establish academic office spaces; and
-
establish a multi-purpose manufacturing workshop in existing workshop space.
Long term reduction in running costs for the facility was addressed with lighting and air-conditioning upgrades and the provision of photo-voltaic panels. The project was completed on time and on budget requirement to despite the need to schedule building work around the academic year.
