Personal wellbeing was at the forefront of this purpose-built contemporary office facility for the staff at Yatala Labour Prison. High-level windows provide an abundance of natural light, while addressing privacy and security requirements.
The generous kitchen opens on to an outdoor eating area to provide connection to nature, while a comfortable lounge area offers a casual work and gathering place indoors.
Individual workstations offer a sense of comfort and are designed in an efficient layout to allow for generous circulation spaces. Meeting rooms of various sizes are designed for flexible use, including acoustic treatment and AV equipment to accommodate videoconferencing.
Conceived as part of our full site masterplan for Yatala Labour Prison, the 1,200sqm Staff Wellbeing Centre forms part of the major YLP Redevelopment. The Centre offers a retreat from the intensity of the secure zone, so that only essential work takes place inside the high security fencing to minimise stress. The design is deliberately comforting and non-institutional, with an abundance of upholstered loose furniture, a welcoming hub where staff can perform administrative duties, connect with colleagues or de-stress in the gym.
