Riya Sthapit

Graduate of Architecture

Riya approaches design with an artisan’s mindset, honed from her time working in a multi-disciplinary architecture, interiors and furniture studio. In addition to her extensive education, she has worked across heritage, residential and education, from briefing, concepts, and documentation through to contract administration. Her hands-on approach and ability to produce hand sketches, physical models and bespoke furniture and lighting complements her technical skills in a range of software.

With prior experience in the design language of traditional Nepalese architecture, Riya brings a global perspective to local building typologies. As a member of our heritage team, she has contributed to conservation management plans, adaptive reuse, feasibility studies and local council heritage studies. She believes heritage architecture holds memories, telling the stories of our past past while adapting to contemporary uses.

Riya values community and collaboration, enriching projects with shared learning and diverse voices. She is interested in the sustainable reuse of our buildings, revitalising our cities while giving value to culture and way of life.
