Currently awaiting construction, this significant sports infrastructure project delivers on Murray Bridge Council’s aspiration of a regional-level sporting hub to improve amenity for local youth and promote economic activity with visiting sports.
Working within the compressed timeframe and budget associated with funding requirements, the expandable facility has been cleverly designed to be constructed in stages, with simple construction to allow for a local contractor. The local junior league will be able to enjoy home games on the FIBA compliant basketball showcourt with sprung flooring, retractable seating and mezzanine café spectating. Though primarily for basketball, to maximise use we also met netball compliance standards.
We approached the project with a precinct-wide perspective, providing dual access from the adjacent showgrounds to serve double-duty as an indoor events pavilion, increasing the flexibility and commercial viability of the development. Standard materials look anything but, with high impact treatments such as vibrant painted ducting and angled profile cladding, to create a lively, contemporary facility that will be the pride of the region.
