As a member of the Thiess, York Civil Joint Venture (TYCJV), Grieve Gillett Architects brought their architectural, urban design and landscaping expertise to the experienced civil, services and construction team.
With the current design of the Goodwood rail interchange with the ARTC freight line, the Belair Passenger line and the Seaford Passenger rail line all connecting in one central spot DPTI proposed that a new underpass be designed to move the Seaford rail line under the other two train lines to alleviate the bottle neck.
To illustrate the complex final design and the staged construction programme Grieve Gillett Architects produced a detailed 3D coloured model of the works so that each individual aspect of the proposed design could be isolated and presented in detail. This intense and detailed level of design work was noted as being a deciding factor by DPTI as it showed a complete understanding of the brief requirements, the proposed design and the construction programme.
Following an open tender the TYCLV were awarded the design and construction contract and have begun to develop the winning design.
